Outcome 4: describe the legal procedures for transferring land from a seller to a buyer

The candidate will be able to:

  • describe the procedure for a seller in selling a house or flat ie the main stages from initial instructions to completion, including redeeming an existing mortgage
  • describe the procedure for a buyer in purchasing a house or flat ie the main stages including initial instructions, making searches and registration
  • describe the significance of exchange of contracts and completion
  • describe the role of estate agents in the sale and purchase of property eg marketing the property, HIP preparation, introducing prospective buyers, releasing the keys to the buyer on completion.
