Changes to ILEX Qualifications
The new Level 6 qualifications
The following new Level 6 qualifications have now been
accredited by Ofqual into the Qualifications and Credit Framework
(QCF):
- ILEX Level 6 Certificate in Law
- ILEX Level 6 Professional Higher Diploma in Law and
Practice
- ILEX Graduate Fast-Track Diploma
These qualifications became available for delivery by ILEX
centres from September 2009, with the first examination sessions
being held in January 2010 and June 2010.
These qualifications replaced the Level 6 Professional
Higher Diploma in Law, which has now
been withdrawn following a final examination session for
all subjects which was held in October 2009.
The new Level 3 qualifications
The ILEX Level 3 Professional Diploma in Law qualification
has been replaced by two new unitised qualifications:
- the ILEX Level 3 Certificate in Law and Practice
- the ILEX Level 3 Professional Diploma in Law and
Practice.
What happens if I was unable to complete my previous
ILEX studies?
If you were studying for one of ILEX's previous qualifications
and were unable to complete your studies, you will be
able finish the course by taking relevant units of the new
qualification under our Level 3
transitional arrangements.
However, it is important to note that in these circumstances,
you will be awarded the qualification you started, namely
the ILEX Level 3 Professional Diploma in Law qualification and not
the equivalent new Level 3 qualification.
If you were studying the old ILEX Level 6 qualification but
did not complete it, you will be able to take units from the
new Level 6 Professional Higher Diploma in Law and Practice to
complete your studies under the
Level 6 transitional arrangements.
Update regarding Transitional
arrangements for students completing their existing ILEX Level 3
Professional Diploma in Law and Level 6 Professional Higher Diploma
in Law
These arrangements apply until October 2013. ILEX is
continuing to review potential next steps for students who do not
complete the requirements of these arrangements in the agreed
timeframe.
ILEX apologises for any delay in clarifying its position in
relation to potential arrangements beyond 2013, but there are
currently certain external issues, outside of ILEX's direct
control, in relation to the regulation of vocational qualifications
that must be clarified before ILEX can appropriately consider the
best way forward for students.
ILEX will provide another update on the ILEX website (www.ilex.org.uk) at the beginning of
January 2012.
ILEX will write individually to any customers who have contacted
us directly regarding these arrangements at the beginning of
January 2012.
