Typical cost of qualifying with ILEX
Please note: These examples are for guidance only and are based
on ITC course assessment and exemption fees, effective from July
2011 to June 2012, and include VAT where applicable. Local
accredited centre course costs may differ - Substitute the ITC
course fees for your own local centre fees. Fees may change in
future years.

*If more than 3 years’ work experience of a predominantly legal
nature has been acquired or a relevant Level 2 legal qualification
is possessed, the starting point will be as an affiliate member,
not a student. The cost of affiliate membership plus first
registration is £145, which should be substituted for the £85
figure.

At the end of Level 6 or the Graduate
Fast-track Diploma, you would become a Graduate Member of
ILEX. You would need to pay membership fees for the five year
period of qualifying employment.
STARTING POINT- LPC/ BPTC
GRADUATE

No ILEX exams required, due to exemptions.

Membership fee.

Suggested, but not compulsory, training: ITC
specialist courses. For example for recruits to insurance work or
personal injury work. Other courses in insolvency and debt
recovery, and mortgage repossession. From 2012, ITC will be
running Business Development and Marketing courses.

For example, ITC Claimant or Defendant
Personal Injury specialist courses (3 assignments, could be
achieved comfortably in 6 months). They are supported
distance learning courses and attract up to 16 hours’ CPD
points.

Under current rules, LPC/BPTC graduates would
need five years’ qualifying employment. For reference, the
current annual Graduate Membership fee is £185, so you would start
paying that from 2013 as the £620 covers the first year’s
membership.

- Additional expenses such as £10
administration fees for booking on to revision or skills sessions
are not covered, nor is travel to external examination centres and

an additional text for Level 6 law and practice units.
