ILEX Qualifications
To qualify as a Legal Executive and
become a Fellow of ILEX, students must successfully complete the
following qualifications:
1. Level 3 Professional Diploma in Law and
Practice (introduced September 2008)
This qualification replaces the outgoing ILEX Level 3
Professional Diploma in Law.
The Level 3 Professional Diploma in Law and
Practice is the first stage on the path to becoming a Legal
Executive. Students may complete the smaller (5 unit)
Level 3 Certificate in
Law and Practice en route to achieving the
Professional Diploma.
2. Level 6 Professional Higher Diploma in
Law
The Level 6 Professional Higher Diploma in Law
is the second stage of training to become a Legal Executive. The
qualification is set at honours degree level and requires the study
of 3 law subjects and one linked practice subject.

In the academic year 2008/9, ILEX will continue to offer the
following outgoing Level 3 qualifications alongside the new Level 3
Certificate and Professional Diploma in Law and Practice.

An introduction to Law and
Practice
For students who are seeking an introduction to Law and Practice
- the Level 3 Certificate in Law and
Legal Practice provides a short but rounded qualification in
Law and Legal Practice. The qualification can be achieved in a
variety of ways to meet the needs of students either working in or
interested in a specific area of Legal Practice.
Specialist Study at Level

Individual subjects on the Professional Higher Diploma in Law may be
taken by non-members, qualified Members and Fellows as Single
Subject Diplomas. Non-members opting to take Single Subject
Diplomas should have substantial experience in the area of law
relevant to their chosen subject or qualifications at GCE A-Level
standard or above.
