& Surrounds
August 2010 Second-level careers session
date tbc. This will be the follow-on session from the student
careers enrichment session and again we are lucky to have the input
from Rosie Torre of the Bristol Law Society. We hope also to have
the input of a freelance HR consultant and in-house selectors. The
focus of this session will be getting yourself noticed and taking
the next step in your career. The session is aimed at Associates
and Graduates. More details will be available through the branch
site and Facebook as the arrangements are finalised.

aid of Headway, at the Cosby Golf Club, Chapel Lane, Cosby,
Leicestershire LE9 1RG. First tee-off at 1.30 pm. It is open to
lawyers and non-lawyers at a cost of £50 per player, which includes
the green fee, two-course meal and donation to the charity.

Somerset
The branch welcomes new members and enquiries
from those who might be interested in studying with ILEX. We have
many members still studying, as well as long-qualified legal
executives able to offer a mass of support and guidance. You can

Following the successful launch of Somerset ILEX CPD courses, we
are able to offer two further courses if there is sufficent
interest amongst members and their colleagues.
(1) An Introduction to Hair Drug Testing and an Introduction
to Hair Alcohol Testing.
This course is designed to provide an introduction to this
revolutionary method of drug misuse. Hair Drug Testing is used to
establish and verify persistent substance misuers and can provide a
complete historical overview of abuse. This course is
also designed to provide an overview of the latest medical
breakthrough used in numerous child protection hearings. Hair
Alcohol Testing can now produce evidence of long term alcohol
dependancy in excess of 3 months.
This is a 2 hour course offering 2 CPD Points. The Date and
Venue will be decided in due course but the course times would
be 5pm to 7.30pm in September 2010.
(2) Estate Administration: Recovering Overseas
Assets and Estate Administration: Issues affecting Trust and Estate
Practitioners.
This course includes the repatriation of shares, lands, bank
accounts and property, as well as distribution schedules,
misdistributions, statutory wills and finding missing
people.
This is a 2 hour course offering 2 CPD Points. The Date and
Venue will be decided in due course but the course times would
be 5pm to 7.30pm in September 2010.
The courses will be free to Somerset ILEX Branch Members and a cost
of £10.00 for non Ilex Members. All colleagues are
welcome.

Coventry and
Warwickshire
Thank you to everyone who attended our first
meeting in June. In response to the overwhelming support we have
received, we are now working towards the official launch of the
branch. Further details are to follow. In the meantime, we are
currently looking for people to make up a team to take part in the
inter-branch quiz being held by the Leicester branch on 30
