CILEx Membership - online application faq
The following frequently asked questions ("faq") should answer
many of the queries raised by prospective and current

My employer is paying my
registration and subscription fee, can I still apply
online?
The only way an online application can be
made is via debit or credit card. If your employer wishes to be
invoiced, you will need to contact the Membership Department
membership@cilex.org.uk
and request a PDF version of the application form.
How much does membership
cost?
The first year of membership involves a
fixed Registration fee and the first year Membership
Subscription fee. The Subscription fees vary according to
grade which is determined according to Educational and
Qualifying Employment status. Some grades may also incur
other one off fees such as qualification Exemption fees. For

Can I pay the registration and
subscription fee in instalments?
When registering for the first time, the fee
must be paid in full. However, all further annual subscription fees
can be paid via direct debit on a quarterly basis.
Can I get any funding to help pay
for registration and subscriptions?
CILEx does not offer funding, but can
recommend a number of companies that maybe able to help. For more

Do I need any formal
qualifications to join as member?
We strongly recommend you have at least 4
GCSEs at grade C or above with one being English.
What evidence am I required to
supply?
Graduates with a qualifying Law Degree and
LPC or BPTC(formerly) BVC, are eligible to join CILEx as a Graduate
Member. These applicants will be required to sent in
certified copies of their Degree and LPC/BPTC(BVC)
certificates. At present to apply for other grades of
membership no additional evidence is required. All
members are bound by the CILEx Code of
Conduct.
Is there an age limit to apply
and register as a member of CILEx?
You must be 16 or over to register.
Why is the Online Service not
available between June and August?
The CILEx subscription year runs 1st
Jan-31st Dec. Anyone joining CILEx after August each year
joins for the following Subscription year, so in the first year
receives member benefits for 15months. There are specific
procedures and preparations required for each new subscription year
and CILEx closes the online service to allow this administration to
take place. If at any time you need to discuss a new or an
existing membership subscription please contact the Membership
Department.
