A most excellent Legal Executive

Philip Warford Legal Executive of the yearThe Institute of Legal Executives is proud to hear that Philip Warford was announced the Legal Executive of the Year at this year’s Law Society Excellence Awards.

Upon receiving his award on Tuesday night (18 October 2011), Philip Warford of Renaissance Legal said: “I was totally thrilled and so proud to be the winner amongst such an amazingly strong short list. For me it's all about following what you feel passionate about and not allowing prejudice in the hierarchy of the legal profession to hold you back. Legal Executives are equal to other lawyers. Just because we don't have a degree does not make us any less able. I cannot be more proud of my qualification and of being a Legal Executive.

“It's a fantastic step in the right direction for The Law Society to honour Legal Executives at their Excellence Awards.”

In choosing Philip as their winner, the award’s judges said: “Providing an outstanding service to ILEX, the legal sector and charitable organisations, Philip is an inspiration to those around him. His efforts to make the law more accessible through unique, innovative approaches to business demonstrate the lengths Philip is prepared to go to for the benefit of others.”

ILEX president Susan Silver added: “Philip is a shining example of how excellent a Legal Executive can be and I can’t think of a more deserving winner. Not only does Philip shine in the day to day work he carries out through Renaissance Law, but he also gives up many hours of his free time to provide pro bono work for the elderly, a lot of which he takes no credit for.

“We are very pleased and delighted that our members are continuing to get the recognition they deserve through events like the Law Society Excellence Awards.”

Also highly commended were Legal Executives, Alexandra Boardman of Hartnell Chanot & Partners Ltd and Lynette Vaughan of Watkins & Gunn.

The Law Society Excellence Awards recognise the most outstanding legal practitioners in their field and are open to individuals and teams across the entire legal sector. They are designed to recognise best practice and to celebrate excellence and outstanding achievement in areas that are central to the profession today.
