Lauren Downham from Carshalton is
celebrating her success in winning the prestigious ILEX Annual
Prize for Legal Secretaries, an annual award sponsored by the
Institute of Legal Executives (ILEX) for support staff in the legal
profession.
The ILEX Annual Prize is part of the
prestigious City and Guilds Lion Awards, a key event in the
world of vocational training. Lauren received her award at a
presentation ceremony in London.
The prize recognises talented people who have displayed
exceptional standards and commitment and whose work and ability
make them stand out from the crowd. Lauren, who studied at Kingston
College, takes home a cheque for £500, a commemorative trophy and a
certificate.
Lauren is currently working in the retail sector and is also
studying towards a BTEC National Business qualification.
Lauren says, “I am every excited to have won this award prize.
After completing my course, I hope to get a job as a Legal
Secretary. My long-term ambition is to be a Legal Executive
lawyer.”
“Part-time study can be hard,” said ILEX President, Mark Bishop.
“Lauren has demonstrated, not only excellence in her chosen field
of study, but a will to succeed. My congratulations to her.
“She has emerged as a winner from the thousands of students
currently studying legal courses with ILEX and City & Guilds.
ILEX vocational qualifications lead on to a fulfilling career in
law in its own right, but also lead on to a fulfilling career in
the legal profession. Many successful Legal Executive lawyers have
begun their legal careers as support staff.”
