Fitness to practise
IPS' role is to ensure, as far as possible, that ILEX
members are fit to practise. The courts, the public and
professional colleagues must be assured that a member is fit
to practise.
Competence to practise is assured through the ILEX education
scheme, supported by continuing professional development (CPD)
activity throughout a member's career. The role of IPS in
relation to the ILEX education scheme is explained here.
Fitness to practise may be called into question by a complaint
or on grounds of ill health.
- Details about IPS complaints procedures can be found here.
- Details of investigations into fitness to practise on health
grounds can be found here.
Fitness to practise is also assessed by IPS through prior
conduct declarations, details of which can be found here.
