The charge was that in or about June 2009 Miss Walmsley, then a student member of ILEX and a candidate in the course of an ILEX professional examination, namely Unit 17 Legal Research Tasks 2 and 3 presented to East Lancashire Institute of Higher Education, as her own work that (or which included that) of another examination candidate, when she knew, or ought to have known that the copying or plagiarism of the work of another was not permitted by the examination body and/or thereby cast doubt upon her integrity WHEREBY disrepute was brought upon ILEX.

The charge was found proved.

Miss Walmsley was excluded from membership of ILEX for a minimum period of three years and was ordered to make a contribution to costs.
