HEYWOOD, Ronald

Date

31 March 2011

Misconduct

Mr Heywood failed to comply with his obligation to advise the Department of Work and Pensions of changes to his circumstances as he was required to do whilst in receipt of disability benefit.  Mr Heywood was prosecuted, pleaded guilty to the charge against him and was sentenced to a community rehabilitation order with a supervision period of 12 months on 16 June 2009.

Consequently, the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) made an order against Mr Heywood under s43 Solicitors Act 1974 (as amended) on 13 January 2011.  That order prevented Mr Heywood being employed in a legal capacity without the prior consent of the SRA.

Outcome

Mr Heywood admitted the misconduct and a determination by consent was agreed between IPS and Mr Heywood.

Penalty

Mr Heywood was excluded from membership of ILEX for a minimum period of two years.
