The charge against Mr Bruce Greaves of
Kidderminster, Worcestershire was that he engaged in conduct
unbefitting to ILEX or likely to bring ILEX or its members into
disrepute contrary to Rule 1(1) and Rule 1(2) of the Code of
Conduct and clause 32(1)(c) of ILEX’s Investigation, Disciplinary
and Appeals Rules.
The particulars to the charge were:
An Order was made against Mr Bruce Greaves
under section 43 Solicitors Act 1974 that no solicitor shall,
except in accordance with permission in writing granted by the Law
Society for such a period as subject to such conditions as the
Society may think fit to specify in the permission, employ or
remunerate with their practice as a solicitor Bruce Greaves.
Mr Greaves, an Associate member of ILEX,
misappropriated client and office funds during the course of his
employment in that he transferred money from his employers client
account into one of his four personal bank accounts. Mr
Greaves also transferred money from client to office account when
no work had been conducted and when requisite bills of costs had
not been forwarded to clients. These actions were in breach
of the Solicitors Accounts Rules.
