The charge against Eileen Maude of Bradford
was that she engaged in conduct unbecoming to ILEX or likely to
bring ILEX or its members into disrepute, conducted herself in a
manner as to cast doubt on her professional integrity and in a
manner that the interest of the client were not paramount to her at
all times contrary to the ILEX Code of Conduct.
The particulars to this charge were:
Mrs Maude misrepresented to her client in a
conveyancing transaction that she was purchasing the property
whereas she was not; she misrepresented to the solicitors acting
for the lender the value for which the property was being sold; she
produced a completion statement for her client which misrepresented
to the client the value for which the property was being sold; and
she destroyed files belonging to her employers without their
consent.
