Work streams
Key areas of work during 2008/9 included:
- settling the governance structures of the company including the
protocols with ILEX
- reviewing ILEX's education quality assurance mechanisms and the
criteria for admission to the register of Fellows
- revisions to the complaints and disciplinary rules and the Code
of Conduct
- establishing a brand image for IPS and developing its own
web-site
- establishing performance and risk measures for both the
board and the staff.
Applications were submitted to the Ministry of Justice for ILEX
to become an approved regulator in respect of litigation and
probate rights and advocacy rights for Associate Prosecutors.
A good deal of liaison has taken place with other regulators and
the Legal Services Board as the LSB develops its role.
Key work in 2010 will include:
- concluding the web-site development, the Code of Conduct and
the applications for new rights
- concluding work on the experience and competence criteria for
admission as a Fellow and in connection with other rights
- developing an approach to entity regulation
- reviewing the rules on continuing professional
development.
We shall also be developing relationships with other
stakeholders including the Office for Legal Complaints which is due
to begin work in earnest in 2010.
