Applications to the Legal Services Board

Reserved legal activities

IPS is working towards making applications to the Legal Services Board seeking to become an approved regulator for the purpose of awarding ILEX members with rights to undertake reserved legal activities.

Associate Prosecutors

With effect from 1 May 2011 IPS became the approved regulator for the purpose of granting rights to conduct litigation and rights of audience to Associate Prosecutors.  Associate Prosecutors are employed by the Crown Prosecution Service.

The application, which was made to the Legal Services Board, set out details of the selection procedures to be followed in selecting suitable candidates to undertake the Associate Prosecutor qualification. The application also set out details of the advocacy and litigation training scheme and assessments that trainee Associate Prosecutors would complete.  The application was approved by the Legal Services Board and by Parliament.  Full details can be found here.
