What are the Opportunities?
Professional responsibilities increase
with experience and Fellows of ILEX are likely
to become one of the main points of contact for
clients seeking professional advice on legal matters.
Professional rights awarded to Fellows include
the following:
- They may act as Commissioners
for Oaths
- With extended rights of audience in civil
and matrimonial proceedings, Legal
Executive Advocates can now represent their
clients in the county courts and Magistrates'
Courts, which enables them to manage the case
from start to finish.
- ILEX is an authorised body under the Access
to Justice Act 1999 to award litigation
rights to suitably qualified members. This
will enable them to issue proceedings in their
own name. A working party has been set up to
develop the framework for the litigation rights
scheme.
- An extended remit of Legal Executives to advise
on Compromise
Agreements. Fellows of ILEX employed
by solicitors practices' and specialising in
employment law have these benefits.
