The Lawyer Magazine praises the ILEX route
over the LPC
The ILEX route and the Legal Executive Lawyers it produces are
continuing to gain increased recognition within the legal
sector.
This week The Lawyer magazine stated that the ILEX model “works
excellently”, and emphasized its attractiveness in the wake of a
Law Society campaign to warn students off pursing a law career and
the publication of the Milburn report, which criticised the legal
profession for being a closed shop.
“ILEX operates an important route to a opening
up a career in law for all, regardless of their socio economic
background. Recent changes to legislation mean that these days you
can now represent your clients in court if you study to be a Legal
Executive Advocate, and Legal Executive lawyers are eligible to
apply to become judges and to become partners in their law
firms.
"Being a Legal Executive Lawyer is a valued
career in its own right. There are many benefits to becoming a
lawyer through ILEX, and the gaps between being a solicitor,
barrister or legal executive lawyer are fast diminishing” said ILEX
President, Judith Gordon-Nichols.
