ILEX Medals - Winners 2009

The ILEX medals were presented at this years graduation ceremony on 19 April at the Corn Exchange in Bedford.

The awards presented were;

  • The ILEX Student of the Year 2009
  • The ILEX Employer of the Year 2009
  • The ILEX President's Medal 2009

The ILEX Student of the Year award 2009 was kindly sponsored by Title Research and offered a prize of the commemorative trophy and certificate as well as travel vouchers to the value of £1000. The winner of this award, Jenny Lennon of Luton Borough Council, achieved the highest level 6 score of 2009.

The ILEX President's Medal 2009 recognises an individual who has given outstanding service to ILEX or the Legal Community and represents ILEX values and ethos. The winner, Jo Broadhead of Raworths, received the commemorative trophy and certificate along with a cheque for £500 - all sponsored by Beachcroft. Jo has embraced her role as a legal executive, as an ITC representative and one of the founders of the prospective York and North Yorkshire branch. She actively promotes ILEX values amongst colleagues, local business communities and schools alike. (Below L-R ILEX President Judith Gordon-Nichols, Award Winner Jo Broadhead)

 

The final award to be presented on the day was the ILEX Employer of the Year 2009. Sponsored by ILEX Tutorial College (ITC) the prize was the commemorative trophy and certificate and training vouchers worth £300. The winner of this new award, Lyons Davidson Solicitors, has shown tremendous support to its employees throughout their studies to become a legal executive lawyer. Lyons Davidson not only promotes the ILEX route to its staff, its funds their study and is generous in the time given for revision and examinations. Just last year this employer appointed a legal executive as a partner, proving to its staff that anything is possible with the ILEX route and has now begun a paralegal training programme (endorsed by ILEX) to encourage its junior members to further their career in law.
