ILEX Medals - Winners 2009
The ILEX medals were presented at this years graduation ceremony
on 19 April at the Corn Exchange in Bedford.
The awards presented were;
- The ILEX Student of the Year 2009
- The ILEX Employer of the Year 2009
- The ILEX President's Medal 2009
The ILEX Student of the Year award 2009 was kindly sponsored by
Title Research and offered a prize of the commemorative trophy and
certificate as well as travel vouchers to the value of £1000. The
winner of this award, Jenny Lennon of Luton
Borough Council, achieved the highest level 6 score of 2009.
The ILEX President's Medal 2009 recognises an individual who has
given outstanding service to ILEX or the Legal Community and
represents ILEX values and ethos. The winner, Jo
Broadhead of Raworths, received the commemorative trophy
and certificate along with a cheque for £500 - all sponsored by
Beachcroft. Jo has embraced her role as a legal
executive, as an ITC representative and one of the founders of
the prospective York and North Yorkshire branch. She actively
promotes ILEX values amongst colleagues, local business communities
and schools alike. (Below L-R ILEX President Judith Gordon-Nichols,

The final award to be presented on the day was the ILEX Employer
of the Year 2009. Sponsored by ILEX Tutorial College (ITC) the
prize was the commemorative trophy and certificate and training
vouchers worth £300. The winner of this new award, Lyons
Davidson Solicitors, has shown tremendous support to its
employees throughout their studies to become a legal executive
lawyer. Lyons Davidson not only promotes the ILEX route to its
staff, its funds their study and is generous in the time given for
revision and examinations. Just last year this employer appointed a
legal executive as a partner, proving to its staff that anything is
possible with the ILEX route and has now begun a paralegal training
programme (endorsed by ILEX) to encourage its junior members to
further their career in law. (Below L-R Noel Inge ITC; Katherine
